Since 1980, Lutheran's Refugee and Immigrant Children Program has provided culturally appropriate foster homes to refugee and immigrant children from around the world who resettle alone in the United States. Children come from such countries as Sudan, Congo, and Rwanda.
UJIMA Community Services has an active collaboration with the various Somali, Eritrean, etc. communities and organizations in King County to help ensure that African American immigrant and foster children will find kinship and licensed foster care families from their own communities to be placed with.
