Thank you to Snoqualmie Valley Alliance Church from Snoqualmie, WA
who recently donated 76 Comfort Bags to the Bellevue DSHS Office!
Comfort bags are for children who must go into out-of-home care or to care in a relatives’ home because their birth families are unable to safely care for them for a period of time. Children benefit from basic personal and comfort items during the sometimes urgent and upsetting time of transition. These bags are collected and distributed in partnership with the local Children’s Administration Office to children when they first come into foster care.
The Comfort Bag Project was started in Western Washington State by Dave and Carrie Blaske, Directors of His Kids Our Homes in Bellingham, WA. Our hope is that this project will spread into the remainder of the state so that every DSHS office will be supported.
If you would like to partner with His Kids Our Homes for the distribution of Comfort Bags then you will receive the following information in your HKOH Comfort Bag Packet:
If you would like to partner with His Kids Our Homes, please contact Carrie Blaske.
If however, you would like more information on how to begin your own Comfort Bag Ministry in your church, please contact Shannon-Vanderark@olivecrest.org.

Region 2 Map
This Map shows all of the Region 2 DCFS Offices available to distribute Comfort Bags. Our hope is that each office would be "adopted" by a group(s) so that all of the children removed from their homes in Region 2 would received a Comfort Bag at the time of their removal. More than one group is encouraged to partner with each office.
If you would like more information on launching a Comfort Bag project in your area, please contact Shannon Vander Ark, Community Outreach for Fostering Together, at Shannon-Vanderark@olivecrest.org.
