The decision to do foster care in not an easy one to make. When deciding if foster care is right for you, there are many things to consider and it helps to know that others have gone before you and have had the same concerns, fears and doubts. Hearing stories of their experiences helps make the decision easier.
Once you have made the decision to do foster care, you will need to decide which population of children to work with. In an ideal world, all foster children would be placed into the most appropriate home that would best be able to meet their emotional, cultural and spiritual needs. Unfortunately, due to a lack of available foster homes, siblings are often seperated and children are placed into homes that often do not understand their unique cultural needs. Fostering Together is commited to educating our communities and prospective foster parents about the "Greatest Needs" of placement for foster children.
Check out our specialized recruitment pages to find out more about the types of foster homes needed. Listen to the voices of foster parents who have stepped out to respond to the needs of these children and consider whether you might too be able to provide care to these children.
