Things to consider when choosing a Private Agency to work with for Foster-Adopt

1.  What geographic areas do they serve? Are they close enough to provide you with the support you will need during the process?

2.  How long have they been an agency? Do they have a proven track record of success in foster-adopt placements? Ask to talk to families who have worked with them.

3.  What ages of children do they specialize in for Foster-Adopt?

4.  What additional fees will they charge for the home study and placement process? These will vary from agency to agency.

5.  What are the training requirements for Foster-Adopt licensing?

6.  How long will it take to get licensed?

7.  How does the Foster-Adopt placement process work? Who will represent you during the placement search?

8.  Do they have support counselors or case aides? Does the agency have designated staff who are available to you if problems arise during the fostering process?

9.  What are the education levels and experience of their case managers? What training have they received?

10. Are they on call 24/7? Will you be able to receive support if something happens at night or on the weekends?
