The Crisis Facing Siblings in Foster Care

Sibling Statistic #1Foster care is hard enough for a child, but when that child has siblings, it becomes even harder. According to a study done in 2005, approximately 70 percent of children in foster care in the United States have another sibling also in care. While keeping siblings together is the goal of the state, finding a foster home that is willing and able to take in a sibling group is not alway possible, especially when the sibling group ranges in number and ages of children. While some sibling groups are comprised of 2 children in close ages, other sibling groups can consist of 3 or more children ranging in ages from infants to teens. Since most foster homes are not licensed to take in multiple children from all ages, larger sibling groups often have to be seperated and placed into multiple homes. To read more, Click Here.
