According to CA Headquarters and DLR the following things must be observed when using social media involving your foster child.
Headquarters and DLR has provided some guidance for the field to use in helping foster parents and other caregivers on the usage of Facebook and posting of pictures:
Foster parents can post family pictures on social networking sites that include foster children, if the following conditions are met:
1. There are no safety issues related to the child specifically by the social worker (e.g. for safety reasons, the child’s family cannot know where the child is placed)
2. The children are not identified by name
3. The children are not identified as foster children
4. There is no discussion on the social networking sites about case specific information about the child or the child’s family
This also is current if your child is pictured in a publication for example the newspaper. They can be photographed but not named and identified.
